SVFL CODE OF CONDUCT

Players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the values of sportsmanship, respect, and integrity within the Southington Valley Football League (SVFL). The core principles of this Code of Conduct are HONESTY and INTEGRITY.

The following essential elements must be adhered to by all participants:

Sportsmanship and Fair Play: SVFL emphasizes the importance of fair play and sportsmanship, which must be taught and demonstrated at all levels of participation, including practices and games.

Value of Good Sportsmanship: The value of good sportsmanship should always take precedence over winning. Respect for opponents, teammates, coaches, officials, and spectators is paramount.

Safety and Welfare: The safety and welfare of players are of utmost importance. Coaches and adults must prioritize player safety in all aspects of the game.

Positive Role Modeling: Coaches and adults involved in SVFL must recognize their influential role and strive to be positive role models for young athletes. Positive behaviors should be consistently demonstrated and reinforced.

Respect for All: Players are expected to demonstrate respect towards teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators at all times.

Respect for Officials: Coaches, players, parents, and spectators must show utmost respect for officials and educate players on the importance of respecting their decisions.

Conflict Resolution: Grievances or misunderstandings between parties involved in SVFL should be resolved through appropriate channels and procedures, away from the field of play and spectators.

Spectator Conduct: Spectators are prohibited from maliciously criticizing, harassing, or threatening officials, coaches, players, or other spectators.

Knowledge of Rules: Coaches must possess a solid understanding of SVFL football rules and adhere to them both in principle and practice.

Fair Play: Attempts to manipulate rules or teach unsportsmanlike conduct are considered unacceptable.

Eligibility Requirements: All participants must adhere to SVFL's eligibility requirements at every level of the game.

Alcohol and Smoking Policy: Alcohol consumption and smoking are strictly prohibited in the immediate presence of children during SVFL events.


Board Position Application


Parents and volunteers interested in serving on the SVFL board must complete the below application. Board positions include: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Marketing, Tackle Commissioner, All Girl's Flag Commissioner, NFL Flag Commissioner, Cheer Director, Safety/Equipment Director, and Concession's Manager. Board positions serve for the calendar year. Once completed, please return to any current board member. This is a great way to get involved and help grow our league for the kids.
